Dress, asos. Tights, M&S. Shoes, H&M. Lipstick, Maybelline. Belt, charity shop. (And I forgot to put a top underneath the dress and you can see my bra but pretend you can't because it's awkward shhhh)
My soundtrack for the last week. (Also she's basically unknown BUT SHE'S AWESOME.)
I'm back home and I love it. Sure my house is cold and covered in sawdust (we're rebuilding our porch) but it smells like wood and coffee and old books, and my cat is here, and I can have long rambly conversations with family without thinking about it (uni people are still such effort as we're all still new to each other) and I can relax.
After recovering from my journey from hell (I brought too many clothes/shoes home, and it poured with rain so I and everything got soaked, and then my train was cancelled because a sea wall broke and flooded the track (!)) I decided to try out my new dress and lipstick and I found some amazing winter light. Winter morning are so beautiful. I need to go up to the forest some day and have an early early walk. ANYWAY BACK ON TOPIC. This was originally going to be something for my zine (theme 'posters'.) I really wanted to do something pretentious and magaziney, as normally I just do reasonably straight forward outfit shots, and they're nearly always something I've worn or am about to wear out. I wanted to parody the pouting posy models in 'high end' magazines wearing crazy stuff. (Pouty lips, blackened eyes, leaning seductively on walls and ornamental fireplaces.) But then I figured out I would wear wear out everything here (and am planning too) with the exception of the shoes... Plus I quite liked the pictures.
Here are the nutty shoes. I obviously liked them enough to buy them- and I wore them to my prom- but otherwise? They're so high and have such an extreme shape I feel really 'other' in them, like I'm playing at being a character you see on a red carpet in a magazine. A cut out construct of a woman.
Plus they're hard to walk in, and I'm generally good in heels. So at the end of this rambly story, basically these pictures are nicer than I intended. HAPPY HOLIDAYS.

ReplyDeletegah, you look so glamourous! (is that how spell glamourous?) and you're shoes, oh my god, i love them! I really like the cut out detail on the dress, i'm a little on the fence about cut outs, but this looks really nice.
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are so beautiful and dramatic and glamarous and probably my favourite you've ever posted <3 shoes are brilliant and nutty and tights and lipstick are super kewl xxxxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteVery cool, I love love love those tights
ReplyDeleteThese photos are beautiful!! I love how you paired the tights and shoes together. And then the cut-out and the lipstick. And the pretty winter light. Ahh, it's just all so good. ;) I hope your break was significantly better than your journey home!
